A most wonderful time of the year
We are coming to the end of a time that takes place only once a year. It starts each year in late March or early April and runs to about the beginning of July. That's right, its road kill season. Each year thousands, perhaps millions of animals learn the maxim; "look both ways before crossing the street," the hard way. As most animals are born in the spring there are many little creatures whose first trembling steps take them right into the path of a speeding truck. This is the best test for evolution I've ever heard of. Theoretically, species all over the world should be gearing up their beneficial mutations to conquer the road. Some should be getting faster than cars, some should be developing armor capable of withstanding a hit, and some, the really cool animals, will be developing the instinct to not cross the road. It's an exciting time to be alive.

Bailey only you would associate something wholesome and good like Christmas cookies with something tradgic and repugnant like roadkill. I am glad there is only one of you.
