Scathing Movie Review

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby

NASCAR ah NASCAR, who doesn’t love sitting down for 3 hours and watching a bunch of identical looking cars drive an oval track for 500 miles. Let’s face it, NASCAR is a boring “sport” to watch and makes an even less interesting movie. Combined with pore acting, bad script writing, uninteresting plot, and juvenile overtone this movie caters to the lowest factions of humanity.

Now before I get into the pain which is Talladega Nights I want to say that I had it in for this movie before I even sat down in the theater. I know its bad reporting to let your feelings affect your judgment before you give the topic a chance, but I’m not a reporter and I’m also not very good at anything. Here is a list of the things I did not like about this movie before it even started:

- The type of movie (crude, offensive comedy)
- The topic of the movie
- The lead “actor”
- Any of the cast members
- Anybody that had anything to do with this movie
- The people I sat next to in the theater
- The fact I wasted ten dollars to see this…piece of work (I saw this movie for the same reason gang shootings happen, pear pressure)

At this point any other movie review might warn you of spoilers, but I believe to spoil something it has to have been at some point good. This does not apply to this movie. We start with Ricky Bobby who was born in a fast car, then we see him again at about age 9 when he steals his mother’s car to “go fast”. We fast forward again to an “adult” Ricky Bobby working a pit crew at a NASCAR race. When his team driver comes into the pit and then goes to have some lunch wile in the middle of the race (I had to think he made the smart choice) Ricky Bobby is asked to drive the car the rest of the race. After enjoying some success at NASCAR Ricky has an accident and we the viewers are forced to watch as he tries to regain the ability to “go fast”. Along the way we meet his dysfunctional family. His slut of a wife, his two devilish children and his back stabbing friend round out the people you will come to hate in watching this film. Unfortunately for the viewer none of them die or go to prison in the course of this movie as one might hope.

During this movie I found my self staring at the ceiling a lot, there were only three or four parts to this movie that made me laugh (I laughed more at V for Vendetta). Over all I the two hours I of my life I wasted watching this would have been better spent carving demonic runes into my forehead with a rusty fork. The scars from doing that would be easer to remove then the scars left on my soul from this movie.
